Céline Marin (b1986, Nice) is a French artist renowned for her meticulously executed pencil drawings. Her work comprises scenes that appear incongruous, featuring small characters situated within an absence of environment. The artist has developed a distinctive drawing practice, based on the collection of images from a range of eras and cultural contexts. By combining real images and seamlessly integrating them into a single drawing, the artist creates a new imagery reminiscent of surrealist collages.

This catalogue presents 'Il y a des fleurs partout pour qui veut bien les voir', Céline Marin's series of drawings on flowers created in 2023-2024. Prior iconographic research in the local archives of the French Riviera on the traditional flower battles, gardens and the residents of this region, enabled her to create exquisite drawings of magical encounters in a surreal world full of humour. Each drawing reveals a unique iconography in which reality gives way to imagination.

The accompanying text, contributed by art historian Catherine Macchi, offers an intriguing analysis of Marin's drawing series. The introduction is provided by Ingrid Van Hecke, an art historian and director of Husk Gallery, a contemporary Brussels-based art gallery. In the context of its core programme, Husk Gallery also publishes catalogues and artist monographs.
