Husk Gallery is delighted to present 'The Fifth Season (La cinquième saison), the inaugural exhibition of French artist Céline Marin in its gallery space. Céline Marin's show features the eponymous double series of pencil drawings based on European winter rituals, which grew out of her itinerant residency early 2019 in five European countries. Every year, as winter draws to a close, traditions from another time are revived across Europe, with masquerades celebrating the new year, chasing away evil spirits and sweeping away the discords of the past year. In Germany, the carnival season is aptly named "The Fifth Season". This is the name given by Céline Marin to her series of drawings.
Opening Sunday 14 January 2024 from 2 to 7pm in the presence of the artist
Finissage Saturday 24 February 2024 from 2 to 6pm
At Husk Gallery Céline Marin's show will be presented along with the exhibition 'Thiasos’ by Belgian artist Peter Depelchin (b1985). Both artists are born in the mid-eighties. Their artworks witness of their meticulous artistic practice and research. The selected artworks for this double exhibition share a specific focus on the theme of theatrical masquerade.
